Italy and the European Union are increasingly silver
The longevity economy is now a growing market, and it is no longer merely a demographic issue: within the European Union alone, the Silver generation generates over €5.7 trillion - equivalent to one third of the member states' combined GDP - with an estimated economic impact of €500-600 billion.
Demographic change is making longevity a strategic challenge that must be addressed as a systemic paradigm, through innovation, integrated policies, and coordinated intervention models.

Introducing the Longevity Economy HUB
Lattanzio KIBS has established the Longevity Economy HUB to support public and private actors in transforming current and future demographic scenarios into strategies, solutions, and business models.
A collaborative ecosystem bridging the public, private, and academic sectors - designed to stimulate sustainable economic growth, enhance the quality of life of older adults, and position longevity as a driver of innovation, inclusion, and intergenerational prosperity.

The numbers that change everything
In Italy, people aged 65 and over already account for more than 21% of the population - a share projected to exceed 32% by 2050. At the global level, those aged 50 and over currently generate 34% of world GDP, on a trajectory set to reach 39% by 2050. According to European Commission projections, by 2070 one in two workers will be over 65.
Five dimensions are most significantly affected by this shift: organisations, business development, the labour market, investment models, and welfare. This is a system that must be redesigned - not merely managed.
How we turn longevity into opportunity
We bring together diverse and complementary stakeholders to transform longevity into a concrete opportunity for growth and sustainability - by analysing current and future demographic trends, designing strategies to capture emerging opportunities, and supporting decision-makers with scenario planning, risk monitoring, and systemic action plans that generate measurable impact.
Our areas of focus
- Scenarios & Advisory - guiding businesses, public administrations, and institutions toward longevity-ready strategies
- House of Innovation - fostering innovation across the longevity economy supply chain
- Advocacy & Culture - promoting awareness and shaping policy at national and European level
A Cross-industry approach to creating shared value
Longevity is not a challenge confined to any single sector. That is why we operate at the intersection of public and private, research and enterprise, data and decision-making - bringing diverse perspectives to the same table to build solutions that truly work.
